Essay & Composition Writing

Are you studying/doing it hard/well?

1. You are studying hard?

2. You are studying well?

(I'm studying hard/well)

(I'm painting/typing hard/well) etc.

I wonder the adverb well can be used similarly to hard in #2 and with other verbs.

In my opinion, the senses are quite different. I understand "hard" to describe your effort here. "Well," on the other hand, seems to describe the effectiveness of your effort.
