Are you after school? / why do you ask me about that? help me please!

Hello Teachers

Q1

A: Are you after school/after work now? Let’s go see a movie later.

Are you after school / after class/ after work now? Dose those questions make sense?

Q2:

A: Do you like singing.

B: yes, I do.

B: why did you ask me about that?

A: I am just curious.

I know use “did” for past tense so I agree that “why did you ask me about that?”

But when I can use “why do you ask me about that?”.

e.g.

A: How old are you lady?

But B wants to know why.

B: why do you ask me about that?

B: why did you ask me about that?

About B’s answer which one is correct ,did or do ? Why?

Thanks a lot.
