Are they correct?

Hi. Are the following sentences correct? Thank you in advance.
‘I want to criticize the social system, and to show it at work, at its most intense.’ , this statement of Virginia Woolf is a direct revelation of the purpose of her fictional novel, Mrs Dalloway(1925).
As a result, maxims, like Darwin’ the survival for the fittest, and movements, such as existentialism, were emphasized.
‘Light Brigade’ by Tennyson seems to epitomize the Victorian values. It celebrats devotion to duty, heroism in face of certain death- the glamour of chivalry.
Many people became mentally and physically ill, gloom became the companion of men. The old beliefs and morals could not sustain the illusion of war. Worst, people could not sustain the illusionment of reality at that time.
