Are they both correct?

"It's in 8th in the top ten."

"It's in the eight place in the top ten."

Do they have the same meaning as well? Thanks in advance!

Just say "It's in eighth place". There is no need to mention the top ten. It is self-evident that eighth place is within the top ten.

Did you forget the article or did you omit it purposely?

"It's in the eighth place" is not correct (or would require an unusual special context).

Wait why? Why do we omit the article? The sentence sounds so strange.

We just happen not to use the article in 'in nth place'.

Nor with "nth place" generally, I think:

Eighth place is not a bad result.
We don't give prizes for eighth place.
