Are they being talked about in terms of their quality and nature?

I have this sentence and want to ask you if the words 'juice', 'soda', and 'cheese are being used (or are used) as their quality or nature.

I am going to the restaurant and get juice, soda and cheese.

(Should I put commas inside the parentheses (for the words juice, soda and cheese) for my question, if I want to follow the American rule?)

Hello Believer I'm not sure how the question can relate to their quality; so I would say "nature". Their nature is "food and drink", and that's what you're getting them for. By the way, I would say: 1.

As you say, the last comma is optional. Most BrE writers omit it these days; but it does seem

Their quality or nature?
No, not that I can see, unless you mean that it is 'their nature' to be substances.
What makes you ask?

These are uncountable nouns. Their referents are substances, so indefinite quantities are implied - to get some juice, some soda, and some cheese.

Thank you, CJ.

I think you know already that the nouns, juice, soda, and cheese, are variable nouns (I think they are) and the original sentence I used to post the original post had no articles in front ot those variable nouns. That is why I asked whether the uncountable side of their variable nature is at play.

(rewriting of the original sentence)

I am going to the rest
