Gromph had discovered that since the ending of the Spellplague several years earlier had caused chaos among the gods, Lolth was trying to expand her power by becoming involved in the realm of arcane magic and had therefore elevated the position of the male wizards of Menzoberranzan, but he did not reveal this information to Quenthel.
