Are these two sentences worded correctly?
Huma was born the only child of Durac of Eldor, a Solamnic Knight, and his wife, Karina. Huma never knew his father since Durac was killed in battle one year after becoming a full-fledged knight while protecting a passage through the eastern mountains in Hylo that would have allowed the enemy to flank the main army of Solamnics.
