Are these two sentences properly structured and worded?

Porthios was informed that refusal to sign this document would result in him being executed. Tanis arrived shortly thereafter and rescued Porthios from his prison, taking him on griffonback to the town of Solace, with news that he and the Silvanesti warrior Samar had rescued Alhana from her Qualinesti prison through the magical aid of Dalamar.
