Are these two sentences correct?

"Some people are innately designed in such a way that they don't become good unless they are in danger, and some people are the opposite, they don't become good unless they are in peace."


Are these correct? Can you make it better?

Hi I'm taking that as a piece of original and creative writing and, if that's so, I think it's good. The vocabulary choices are good. Some strict teachers might not be happy at how the sentence is punctuated with the two commas.
