Are these two sentences completely correct?

Tol promised to spare Tylocost’s men if he yielded, and the elf then ordered his cornetist to signal for the Tarsan army to surrender to the Ergothians. The Tarsan foot soldiers threw down their weapons, but the nomad cavalry, not inclined to submit to Ergothian mercy, galloped away, and the weary imperial horsemen let them go.
