Are these two mean the same?

Hi teachers!

1. The microscope uncovered the world of microorganisms too small for the eye to see.

2. The microscope uncovered the world of microorganisms so small that the eye can't see them.

I believe the very last word in 2(them) should be omitted to make 1 and 2 mean the same. What do you think?

Thanks in advance Emotion: smile
