FYI- Evendur is the Chosen. Evendur rejected the proposal, but the true purpose of the meeting was for Umara to assess the Chosen’s power. When she then used her magic to secretly explore the temple, she learned about Stedd and his approximate whereabouts. Kymas and Umara decided that it would be easier to pursue and capture Stedd than to try to abduct Evendur.
