Are these sentences worded in the best way?

FYI- Mhurren is the warlord of the Thar tribes/army. Although the remaining defenders fought valiantly against the brutal onslaught of the Thar tribes, it seemed that they would be overrun until Mhurren was killed by Kara and Geran. The warlord’s death immediately caused his forces to retreat from the field, and the fearsome army swiftly fell apart as feuds for control began to erupt between the Bloody Skulls and their allies.

I'm not certain if the Skulls have previously been mentioned here or somewhere else. It sounds like the Skulls are about to fight their own allies. Clarification might be needed.

Thanks for your help and advice. Sorry that was my mistake, I meant to tell you the ****** Skulls and their allies are the Tharran army.
