Are these sentences using 'pondered,' 'subtopics,' 'hers,' 'ourselves,' and 'experience' correct and acceptable? 

Mrs. Morgan, our teacher, pondered that finishing all the subtopics about prose was not enough. Hers was the strong conviction that we students ourselves had to experience prose.
