Are these sentences using 'for,' 'subject matter,' and 'deal with' correct?

Are these sentences using 'for,' 'subject matter,' and 'deal with' correct? 

For nine years, Mrs. Smith taught Anglo-American literature for Grade 10. Prose was the first subject matter she had to deal with.

Some people might argue that the sentence should not end with a preposition, but I am not among those people. I find the original sentence to be perfectly fine. If you were to move the preposition, which would be quite artificial, you would have the following not so natural sentence: Prose was the first subject matter with which she had to deal.
