Are these sentences using ‘blinked my eyes’ and ‘never do her good’ acceptable?

A few moments passed when I blinked my eyes because Monica’s shadow seemed to be in front of me. It seemed that she was crying, feeling sorry for what she had done, realizing that drugs would really never do her good.

Would it be acceptable if I rewrote the the first sentences as follows?

A few moments passed. I blinked / My eyes blinked when I noticed that Monica's shadow seemed to be in front of me.

"my eyes" should be omitted. The expression is simply "I blinked". You can't blink any other way than "with your eyes" so it seems as odd to add it there as to add "with my ears" in I heard Monica say "Hello" with my ears.

"when" seems out of place after "a few moments passed".

A few moments passed ?when
