FYI- Shades and the Shaovar are the same people. Yder and his warriors entered the manor, but the two Chosen managed to escape capture and deceived the Shadovar into believing that they and the Eye were aboard a ship that was sailing away from the city at that moment. Arietta’s father, Grand Duke Farnig Seasilver, and a contingent of his guards were on the ship, but when Yder and the other shades transported onto the vessel, they swiftly slaughtered everyone in search of the magical artifact.
