Are these sentences natural? September 7

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. How would they get supplies to this remote location? ( I was talking about a historic fort)

2. What would the soldiers do to pass time in the winter? (was talking about a historic fort)

3. Where would they have got the laborers to build such massive walls in such a short time? ( was talking about a historic fort)

Thanks,

MG.

1. Fine.

2. What would the soldiers do to pass the time in the winter?

3. The past participle of get in AmE is gotten, in BrE it is got. So what you have written is correct for BrE. However, in BrE it would be labourers. Laborers is AmE. So correct but if anything, I would stick to one continent.

Hope that helps,

Wil

Thanks wrandom.

wrandom2. What would the soldiers do to pass the time in the winter?
I omitted 'the' because I thought I was talking about time in general. Why do you think 'the' is necessary?

I know it is hard for native speakers to answer such questions as they don't think before making such choices, it is natural to them.
