Are these sentences natural? October 5

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. I understand that having a lawyer on hand is always a good idea, but I am not sure how I get one.

2. I don’t need a lawyer right now, but I figure I should know a trust worthy lawyer in case I ever got in trouble with the law.

3. I had also looked these words up on dictionary.com, but couldn't figure whether they had long or short vowels.

Thanks,

MG.
