Are these sentences natural? May 24

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?
1. Of that, 30% was from contract renewals, with (the) new rates 7.8% higher than (the) expiring rents. ( I am not sure if the articles in the brackets are necessary)

2. Is there a thought to enter in Europe.


3. I asked him what he does in free time.
