Are these sentences natural? July 26

Hi,

Are these sentences natural to a native ear?

1. Honesty is a good policy, but that can only go so far.

2. Many landlords continue to take advantage of this pre-set expectation to create an incremental source of income, sometimes to manage limited parking efficiently or sometimes just because it works.

3. I am not going to say one way or the other. I am not going to take sides.

Thanks,
MG

My opinion: 1) Yes, fair enough. 3) I might replace the second "I am not" with "I won't" or "I will not", but it's okay as-is. 2) is not only a very long sentence, it's also a complex one.

  • ), but the "just because it works" is completely out of tone with the rest of it to me.

What I am trying to say here is that some landlords continue charging for parking in their builidngs just because it works. There is no scarcity of parking but they still do it because people are willing to pay for it. How would you say it?

If you are being informal, exactly what you wrote sounds fine to me: "Some landlords continue charging for parking in their buildings just because it works. There i
