1. Let us say the three month warning was issued on 1 Jan 2011, and after one month, i.e. on 1 Feb 2011, the warning was no longer a three month warning as it would have left only two months before it expires. 2. Let say, the 3-month warning was issued on 1 Jan 2012, so after one month, on 1 Feb 2012, the warning will/would have left only two months before it expires.
