Are these sentences natural? December 8

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. Usually what I do is, I go through my stuff periodically, and if there is something that I haven’t used for the last one year, I throw it out because there is a small chance that I would ever use it again.

2. So, she finally gives in to my pursuing and agrees to meet me for coffee. ( I was narrating an experience).

3. I think, and I know I am being a bit flowery here, she looks like a famous actress.

Thanks,

MG.

Usually what I do is, I go through my stuff periodically It's very casual style and as such it's authentic and idiomatic. But in more careful speech the subject I would not be repeated. Usually what I do is (to) go through my stuff periodically OR What I usually do is (to) go through my stuff periodically to is optional above.

  • and if there is something that I haven’t used for the last one year, one isn't wrong, but it's more natural to leave it out.
