Are these sentences natural? December 15

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. Where did all this green come from? Or where has all this greem come from ? ( I was looking at a dish I had prepared)

2. Does it taste the same as the one from the restaurant ( I was talking about a dish I prepared at home)

3. I thought it would taste similar to what we get in that restaurant.

Thanks,

MG.

I am a bit confused here. I said the sentence while looking at the dish. Usually, at least I think, people tend to use the present perfect in such situations. For example,

Hi

A good question..

Indians and Americans don't use the present perfect tense so much as British speakers. They often use the past tense instead. An American might say "Did you have dinner?", where a British person would say "Have you had dinner?"

Being an Indian and a foreign speaker of English, I would say:

Did you do that?

Where did all this green come from?

Of the choices you gave, this one sounds more natural to me, though the other is also acceptable.

You had prepared the dish, and the green must have appeared because of something you did during the preparation of the dish, or so we are led to believe from what is said. To me the question is asking indirectly
