Are these sentences grammatically correct?

1) It is very helpful because the information given in the flow diagram is divided into several steps which makes it easier for the reader to understand.

2) The author makes this story interesting by getting into detail and using many adjectives. It is written in the first person. Writing in first person means telling a story as if it happened to you.
