Are these sentences grammatically correct?

Could anyone please tell me if these sentences sound natural? Thank you.

1) James Watt made the steam engine more efficient and continued developing it for several years.

2) Baird's television system was replaced by technically advanced broadcasting developed by Marconi. (Can I use the word BROADCASTING here?)

3) Tourists also like picking small brick-red stones from Loch Ness and keeping them as souvenirs. (Is PICK the right word??)

4) The Saltire or the Scottish national flag consists of a white cross on a blue background. (Should I add commas?)

5) Their opening hours are similar to those of ordinary shops. During the high season they are available also on Sundays.

Hi Eff, Yes, they are (almost) all grammatically correct, and sound pretty natural to this native English speaker. However, if they were my sentences, I'd make a few minor changes, as follows: 1) James Watt made the steam engine more efficient and continued developing it for several years. That is fine as it is, although I'd probably put a comma after efficient.
