Are these sentences correctly structured and worded?

FYI- The group is the companions. Though the group managed to elude capture for a short time, eventually they were detained and placed in a caravan of prisoners being sent to the mines of Pax Tharkas along with the barmaid Tika Waylan and the Qualinesti prince Gilthanas Kanan. Within the prisoner convoy, the companions were joined by the mysterious and eccentric wizard Fizban, and were later rescued in an ambush set by the Qualinesti elves outside their borders.
