Are these sentences correct?

Sentence 1: Are any of these mountain bikes available to rent for the day?

( Should any be followed by 'is' rather than 'are' ? )

Sentence 2: The committee lead very different lives in private.

( Collective nouns usually follow singular verbs. What are the exceptions to this rule if the above sentence is correct? )

Sentence 3: He had a stomachache, because he ate so many cookies.

(I know that comma should be placed before FANBOYS/Coordinating Conjunctions but does comma come before because as well?)

Sentence 4: Because he ate so many cookies, he had a stomachache.

(Is this a more suitable way to write this sentence? Should 'because' be placed at the start of the sentence? Which way is better? )

Please help and reply as soon as possible.

I'll be really thankful.
