Are these sentences correct?

Are these sentences grammatically correct?

1. I didn't know you have a dog.

2. I didn't know you had a dog.

Context: I happened to meet one of my friends in the park who was walking his dog. And I was surprised to learn that he had a dog. So what should be my immediate reaction between option 1 and 2?


And also for the below sentences.

I didn't know you have a girlfriend.

I didn't know you had a girlfriend.
