Are these sentences correct?

Hi,

How can I express an idea that someone is behind us and he is far away from us?

Are these examples correct?

Dad is a long way behind us;

dad is a long way after us; or

dad is a long way in the back.

Can you revise them?

Thank you.

Only this one seems natural and reasonable: Dad is a long way behind us.

It is kind of you to answer my questions.

Thank you.

Can I say that behind tends to mean locally, while after tends to mean chronologically or logically?

Regards,

I don't think that is a safe conclusion, though the words often work that way.
