Are these sentences correct?

1)

a)These are good students. We don't put "a" before good because "students" is prular, right?

b)This is a good student. We put "a" before good because "student" is singular, right?

2)

a)This is a beautiful flower. We put "a" before beautiful because "flower" is singular, right?

b)These are beautiful flowers. We don't put "a" before beautiful because "flowers" is singular, right?

We don't use "a" with collective nouns like homework, right?
