Are these sentences completely correct?

The bakali easily conquered Free Point and either killed or enslaved the town’s citizens. Mandes was saved from this fate by demonstrating his magical skills to the bakali commander. In exchange for his life, Mandes supplied the bakali with a sleeping mist spell that the lizard-men could use against their enemies. The wizard also had secretly embedded the Red Wrack in the mist, the reason being that the Tarsans and kender had not sufficiently admired his talents so he repaid them with pestilence. Mandes revealed to the Ergothians that he had caused the magical mist, but he refused to admit that he had also created the plague that went along with it, though Tol suspected otherwise. Mandes concocted a potion that cured the Red Wrack, and it was immediately administered to Tol’s soldiers. Seeing how easily he cured the plague, Tol suspected even more that Mandes was the cause of the sickness.
