Are these expressions ever used in modern English?

Are the following idioms&collocations still "common enough" in modern spoken English?
(1) It is all in a lifetime ( ?? "Everything can happen in one's lifetime", "Things happen", etc.) (2) Crashing bore (3) a long drink of water( = very tall person?) thanks! Mus-tee
