Are these expressions ever used in modern English?

Hi,

Are the following idioms&collocations still "common enough" in modern spoken English?

(1) It is all in a lifetime ( ?? "Everything can happen in one's lifetime", "Things happen", etc.)
(2) Crashing bore
(3) a long drink of water ( = very tall person?)
thanks!

3) You have the expression wrong. It's "a tall drink of water". I hear it now and then. I believe I've heard it said more often by a woman about a tall, handsome man than in any other context. The experience of others may be different.
