Are these correct

There would be living an exotic charm inside me, no matter how modern my surrounding gets.

There lived a man in a cottage.

Are these above sentences correct?

The first one is a literary sentence. To me, the less formal "get" seems slightly out of place, and I would replace it with "become". The second one has a story-telling feel, but seems a little incomplete as it stands.
