Are these correct?

Are these grammatically correct in (American English Language)?

1)fish are friends with peniguins. Do we need to put (the) before peniguins?

2)they have been fighting the whole week.

1)fish are friends with peniguins. No, you need a capital letter. Also, check your spelling.
Do we need to put (the) before peniguins? No.

2)they have been fighting the whole week.

No. But you do need to start the sentence with a capital, and spell penguins correctly.

The main difference is not in the grammar (sentence structure), but in speech (accents) and spelling. I consider Canadian English to be closer to British English than American English, but I'll let Clive comment. I went to school in eastern Canada.
