Hi folks, could you tell me if the BOLDED phrases are collocations or not? If relevant, I'd love a comment on each o the sentences below (on whether or not it's a collocation).
I know that collocations are when words are often seen together. But I get confused when I see words with prepositions, phrasal verbs or certain grammatical structures/phrases.
1) Livestock accounts for the majority of global warming.
2) I went up to the cashier.
3) I walked out of my house.
4) I saw through the keyhole.
5) I opened up the package.
6) I spoke with my friend.
7) I sat on the table.
8) He ate the greatest amount of food.
9) I went through a series of 3 stages for my interview.
10) I continue to walk.
11) He develops into a full-sized adult.
12) It passes through a machine.
13) The vast majority of residents are over 60 years of age.
14) It used to be here.
15) It changed at a later period.
16) He ate a total of 2 slices.
17) The damage was caused by an earthquake.
Could you please tell me what would be considered AN ACTUAL COLLOCATION? Thank you!
