Are these both correct?What is difference?

1.We had a really good holiday.It couldn't have been better.
2.We had a really good holiday.It can't have been better.

Thanks for your answer.
I use can't have been cause I read somewhere that it is the past of "can't be" and negative of "must have been".
so with this explanation sentence 2 is past tense too.
so why is that wrong?
