Grammar

[are there] or [is there]

I have made up the questions below.

(1) Is there a ruler and a book in the drawer?

(2) Is there a ruler and book in the drawer?

(3) Are there a ruler and a book in the drawer?

(4) Are there a ruler and book in the drawer?

Most of my non-native English speaking friends think they are all correct. I am not sure if they are right. Please help me. Thank you.
