Are there anything wrong?

I should have gone over the bridge but I ended up making left turn and taking the highway. There were so many cars backed up, taking so long time to get out of the highway and take right way leading to the company.

( Isn't back up used for traffic jam?)

The cars were bumper to bumper. (If there were that many cars, you know it's "many", so you don't have to say "many".)
