Are the tenses correct?

Hi. Please help.

1. Is this correct when we want to say something that more than one person does generally, perhaps every day?

They jump rope every day.

How about the singular form, a rope?

They jump a rope every day.

2. Is the tense correct as some sort of diary entry?

Today I entered the science contest.
I am happy that I won a prize.
I say to myself, "Let's do it again next year."

Hi. Thank you very much. Please help me with this, too. What if someone wanted to describe what more than one person does every day, say riding a bike, would this be correct? Thank you for your help in advance.
