I went to the cinema and watched a movie.
I went to the cinema to see a movie.

Are both sentences OK?

Yes.

(A small nit-pick might be that you have combined a primarily British word, "cinema", with a primarily American word, "movie", but in fact "movie" is not that uncommon in Britain.)

tamguatlayI went to the cinema and watched a movie.
Apart from the point GPY has already made, this seems a little unnatural to me. I watch films/movies on TV, but I see them at the cinema.
