Are the sentences natural and are the words in bold fine? And should it be "it' or 'them'?

With joy and excitement, I stepped into the building, and my eyes feasted on what was a sight of splendour, with grand looking pillars, elegant structure and decor with oriental and historic elements in them. All of it/them seemed so familiar, and for a moment, I had a feeling of returning home

Are the sentences natural and are the words in bold fine? And should it be "it' or 'them'?

S. Only you know if your audience expects and appreciates this style of writing. If you were my student and were working with me on American-style writing, I'd edit it down to "I was excited when I stepped inside and saw the grand pillars, elegant structure, and Oriental decor.
