Are the sentences correct?

I've been told I wouldn't have depression if I wasn't wearing black clothes. Dear everyone: It is not like that!

The "Dear everyone" part doesn't really work, not for me anyway. I'd write it thus: I've been told I wouldn't have depression if I didn't wear black clothes. Just to let everyone know — it's not like that!
