Indeed, every one of us, teachers, is quite aware of the fact that in any learning situation — be it a foreign language, a craft, some technical knowledge, or the like — students need to see the relationship between the subject under study and the world they live in; otherwise, we, teachers, face a major challenge from the very outset. For the sake of a better understanding of this claim, just imagine what our reaction would be if we were forced to learn something that is utterly irrelevant to our life: we would certainly feel unwilling to do what we are supposed to.
