Are the given sentences using ‘moderated,’ ‘lower down,’ ‘take in,’ ‘can be,’ and ‘soon as’ acceptable?

1. The intake of breastmilk substitutes should be moderated as it can lower down the child’s ability to take in other nutrients.
2. For lactose intolerant children, soya milk can be an option.
3. Soon as a child reaches his/her first year, he/she must start consuming 1,000–1,400 calories a day.

"Lower" does not need "down."

"...it can lower the the child's ability..."

For number 3, it should be "As soon as a child..."
