Are the following expressions still common?

"Turn in" (Vi)

> to go to bed
"Hit the hay" (Vi)

> to go to bed

I saw one text that says they are no longer widely used unless jocularly.

The expressions I'm asking about are:

Hit the hay

and

turn in

which both mean

to go to bed.

Are they still widely used?

'Turn in' is still in wide use, I think. 'Hit the hay' less so.

I think they are both used widely enough that any native speaker would know what you are saying.

Crash is also common, especially with students.
