Are the commas needed?

Tomorrow's seniors will be different from today's and, maybe, that's how the new initiatives might fit in.

Are the commas before and after "maybe" needed? Thanks.

They are needed. I would place one after today's as well, even though it's a lot of commas. However, you can "clean up" the sentence a bit by eliminating the maybe and accompanying commas, because you have included the word might at the end.
