Are my sentences correct?

The message in the two documents is about freedom. Chief Joseph of Nez Perce Indians speech in Wasington was about having freedom to live like other white people. In addition, he wanted his people to have equal rights among whites and to be treated the same in the society.
Steward message was also about freedom. Freedom to have an 8- hour work day and to take a rest and have more leisure time.
