Are my corrections correct? :-)

1. I wrote because I am terribly depressed and I want you to tell me what you think about my problem.
corr: I am writing because...

2. My wife left me eight months ago. She is now living with a man who is very rich and successful and maybe becomes the mayor of our town.
corr: ... She now lives with a man who... and may become the mayor of our town.
