are found/ to be found
Your help would be appreciated... Which is correct and why?
1) The items in question are found in the previous programme.
2) The items in question are to be found in the previous programme.
I prefer the 2nd option, but is there a grammatical reason why it sounds better? Or are both options perfectly possible?

I think with #1, I'd be more likely to say "can be found" than "are found." Or "are listed." I think the "are found" is a little odd - they'll be found if you look for them.
#2 sounds more like an order: Go find them there!

Thanks so much for your input, Barbara and Marius! "Can be found..." is a good option, I think. As far as I can remember (will have to check next time I see the student), this comes from text giving instructions. So, "...are to be found..." is also possible? How would you categorize this grammatically? Passive infinitive?
